    Sign in to Google AI Studio

    Go to aistudio.google.com and sign in with any Google account.

    Create your API key — free

    Click “Get API key” → “Create API key”. No credit card needed: the free tier works for trying RedditAsk, with per-minute rate limits. Keys start with AIza.

    Optional: enable billing

    If you hit free-tier rate limits, link a Google Cloud billing account to the key to lift them — still pay-as-you-go.

    Add it to RedditAsk

    Paste the key in the form on this page (or Model Settings inside the app), pick a model, and save. We validate it live before storing it encrypted.

Your keys follow your Reddit account

Connect your Reddit account first (read-only) — your API keys are then stored encrypted against it, work from any device, and unlock unlimited briefs & chat.

Where is my key stored?

Encrypted at rest in our database, tied to your Reddit account. Keys are write-only: never shown again in full, never logged, never placed in URLs, never returned by the API — you only ever see a masked hint.

What does adding a key unlock?

All briefs and chat run on your own provider quota instead of RedditAsk's included AI — the daily caps disappear entirely, and you choose exactly which model does the analysis.

Can I remove it later?

Any time, from Model Settings or the account menu — removal is immediate. If you have another saved key it takes over; otherwise you fall back to the included AI with daily limits.
